Rescue Shelter Contract with Ivankiv Regional Administration Almost Complete!

Last summer, our ministry team took temporary guardianship of 9 children throughout the summer. Each of these children came to us in a moment of crisis. Two young girls were suddenly orphaned when their step father beat their mother to death and then hung himself. Two other girls spent a week at our camp and upon returning home, their mother kicked them out and as they wandered the streets (at ages 12 and 9), they remembered that they had our phone number in their pockets and called us. We had those girls for two weeks before they were placed in a Christian orphan home in Kiev.

The needs are growing in our region due to the recent closure of the regional orphanage by the national government. The Ivankiv Regional Administration asked us to consider opening a Rescue Shelter to meet the demand of caring for children in crisis. After much prayer, we believe this is something which we cannot walk away from.

This past fall, at our board meeting in Texas, the board of Jeremiah's Hope voted to use our newest building at the camp as a Rescue Shelter. We began working with the government for the permissions and clearly outlined direction and responsibilities of both Jeremiah's Hope and the Ivankiv Regional Administration. Our contract and conditions have been approved and we are working together on some minor changes. The contract will be signed next week and we will have permission at that time to begin operating.

The building, which is still under construction, should be completed by summer and will allow us to house up to 24 children at a time.

We are already aware of a few children in crisis now and hope that they will be our first residents. We believe God is calling us to help rescue those who are perishing in this area!

We are looking for monthly partners to "Sponsor the Rescue Shelter" and help us provide food, clothing, toiletries, school supplies and healthcare for these children as they arrive in the future. If you would like to learn more about that partnership, please contact us at donations@jeremiahshope.org
