On Tuesday night, during our evening devotional, we had Katya leave and get ready for bed. I then proceeded to tell the kids about Katya's life. I then asked them if they would be willing to pray for Katya. Not just a quick prayer, but a prayer service for her and really lift her, her mother and her future before the Lord. The kids were eager and sitting in a circle, we began to pray. One at a time, most of the kids, prayed that Katya would feel loved, accepted by each of them. They prayed that she would find a home and a family to love her. They prayed that she would grow to love the Lord.
The prayer that was the most touching, was a 7 year old girl praying that Katyas mother would be REDEEMED. That she would stop drinking and learn to love her daughter. This same little girl, the exact same age as Katya, prayed that God would allow Katya to see her mother clean, not drunk and in a loving light. The next day....her mother arrives at the camp...clean, sober and wanting to hug her daughter.
Once again, I was reminded of what Isaiah wrote - "And a child shall lead them..."
