For the last 3 years, we have had the opportunity to know Alyona. She is now 18 years old and lives in a small village about 15 minutes from the camp. She is one of the kids who we serve and minister to through our Sasha Project.
Alyona's parents and her older brother are raging alcoholics. She lives in a dump that is lice infested (since April, she has been to camp 3 times and each time we have spent HOURS cleaning her hair). She lives a difficult life and is afraid to continue living at home (read between the lines here).
Having just finished high school, Alyona dreamed of getting out of the house and going to trade school and leaving her parents and her past behind. However, her alcoholic parents could not afford the school application fee of $40 US and also could not afford for her to leave home. They could, but if Alyona left home, they would not have a child to send out to get a job and earn money to feed them. They spend all their money on Vodka and need Alyona to buy them food. They are the only Sasha Project family we know of where the parents have sold the food that we have delivered for the kids we serve.

This summer, each time camp has ended, Alyona has asked if she could stay just one more day. She has no desire to go home. She is afraid of what she will become if she returns home. She reads her Bible daily sitting under the shade or in the lodge. She is truly seeking after God and seeking after a new life. So, we have offered to "RESCUE" Alyona from the hell she calls home. When camp ends tomorrow, our staff will escort her home to collect her few personal belongings and to protect her while she tells her parents that she is 18 years old and is moving away never to return home.
On Monday, we will take Alyona to Kiev to look at two different cosmetology schools and hopefully apply and get her into one of them. The price for all of the courses will be $3,800 USD. That does not include her living expenses or the tools she will need.
Additionally, we will need help covering Alyona's living expenses. She will live at the Rescue Shelter in Kolentsi, but will commute 2 or 3 days each week down to Kiev to school. Living in the Rescue Shelter will give her the support and stability of loving Christian role models who can help guide her as she enters the adult world. We are needing to raise $650 a month to cover her transport (which will be $160 a month to go back and forth to Kiev), clothing, food, medical needs, etc.
We need the help of Christians to stand with us to RESCUE Alyona at this time. We are making a huge commitment to Alyona and need your help! Can you help Alyona?

We are considering helping and have a few questions. Is there an email address we could use to communicate those questions?
