Why Support Our Rescue Shelter?

Since opening on July 1st, our Rescue Shelter has rescued 6 girls from tragic home lives.  Each of them have a unique story, but share a common thread - their parents are all chronic alcoholics and the children are basically abandoned, neglected and abused.

Here are their stories in brief...

MARINA & MASHA
In June 2011, late one night, their step father took Marina and her mother into the forest.  There he killed Marina's mother as Marina was forced to watch.  The next day, he hung himself leaving Marina, Masha and their 10 month old brother behind.  Within the week, Social Services had placed the two girls with us, but the brother had been given to relatives who wanted him.  The girls were unwanted.  For two months, they were loved at Jeremiah's Hope but then Marina was sent to a Christian facility in Kiev and Masha was sent to a grandmother who is a chronic alcoholic.  This summer, both girls were brought to us at our Rescue Shelter so they could be together and so Masha (3 years old) could be safe.

Masha has developed as a normal 3 year old with very little mental or emotional damage caused by the death of her parents and alcoholic grandmother.  She is not completely potty trained but she is still 3 and learning.  Marina on the other hand is traumatized and deals with anger management and at the age of 7 continues to wet her bed at night and also wet herself during the day.

NATASHA
This summer, Natasha came to camp and enjoyed a great week playing with other kids.  At the end of the week, she, along with all the other kids, went home.  However, her time at home was very brief and within the week, Social Services brought Natasha back to camp.  Her mother is an alcoholic and is often passed out for days or wanders through the village finding whatever man she can to "spend time with."

Natasha LOVES her mother.  Her mother is not able to take care of her.  Social Services is working to put a case together to strip her mother of her parental rights and therefore pave the way for Natasha to be able to be placed with a foster family.

Please pray for Natasha as she loves her mother dearly and things that her mother cannot live without her.  On the other hand, in the two months she has been with us, her mother has not once asked where her daughter is and has never responded to requests by Social Services.

 TANYA AND NASTYA
These sweet girls were campers in June.  Their return to home was also a short stay.  Their parents are both alcoholics and their 9 month old brother is EXTREMELY sick.  The father is pretty much so drunk he is rarely there to meet their needs.  Their mom is drunk for days on end and forget to feed the baby often.  When she does breast feed she is usually drunk, therefore the baby is most likely feeding on milk laced with vodka.  The baby is unable to crawl, sit up or even hold his head up.  The baby is currently hospitalized and the mother has been given an ultimatum to go to rehab for her alcoholism or loose the rights to her children.

These are 5 of the girls we have served.  They will be here for several month longer.  Next week, we are expecting a gypsy girl who will be brought to us by Social Services.

Our monthly budget for the Rescue Shelter is $1,200 US a month.  However, at this time, we are receiving only $200 of that in monthly donations.  We need YOUR help to continue operating and serving kids like Natasha, Masha, Marina, Tanya and Nastya.

If you would like to partner with us on a monthly basis to help meet the needs of our Rescue Shelter, you can donate by check or you can sign up online for your monthly donation using your credit or debit card.
