Transplanting Trees for Tomorrow...

According to Ukrainian tradition, there are 3 things which every person should do in life: build a house, have a child and plant a tree!

The camp which Jeremiah's Hope is building sits on approximately 12 acres of land. The back portion of the land is heavily wooded with pine trees. The front section contains a mix of pines and birch trees, however, there are areas where there are no trees.

This week, we are blessed to have a small group from Amarillo, TX and Midland, TX. Actually, Becky Ruland (pictured below in red) is the head of the building company we are using to build the camp and she has brought 3 friends with her. One of them is a professional Arborist.

Leslie, pictured below with a pine tree, was teaching me today how to uproot a pine, quickly transport it across the property and replant it within a few minutes. We are blessed to have his knowledge and his passion for helping God's creation grow.

Today, the team transplanted roughly 40 trees and placed them along one of the fence lines that had no trees. They will continue working till they leave on Saturday.
